In life, there are certain defining moments that shape who we become. For Khaiy, it started as a routine task at her first job as a kennel attendant. She was asked to take a very sick Golden Retriever outside for her daily stretch. Cindy

Trainer

Cindy has over 10 years of experience training both puppies and adult dogs in good manners, as well as providing behavior modification for issues such as leash reactivity, resource guarding, fear of people or other dogs, touch sensitivity related to grooming and veterinary care, and dogs with high prey drive. She spent eight years working in a shelter, helping facilitate smooth transitions for dogs moving from a shelter environment into a home setting. Cindy chose to become a trainer because she wanted to support dogs and their owners before frustration led to dogs being surrendered to shelters.

Cindy’s first dog was fearful of some people and uninterested in other dogs but was gentle and appropriate with the household cats. Through training and patience, she worked to build the dog’s confidence around people and taught him how to politely interact with the cats.

Her current dog, Luke, is a four-year-old Labrador Retriever who has earned his Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, and Novice Trick titles. Cindy and Luke are currently working toward becoming a certified therapy dog team. For fun, Luke enjoys shed hunting and participating in scent work.
